Coeliac UK Awareness Week is 14-20 May

To mark Coeliac UK celebrating 50 years of helping the Gluten Free community this week, we are proud to introduce our new Gluten FreeHarbourside Fish and Chip Shop.

We are so excited to share the news of our new gluten free shop opening this month at 12 The Barbican, Plymouth PL1 2LS. Sarah Lock, owner of Harbourside Fish and Chips, has been keen to open this new shop concept for a while and is excited her plans are finally coming into motion.

“This week is Coeliac Awareness week and what better way to acknowledge this other than sharing the great news that our doors to our Gluten Free shop are now open!“

^Coeliac disease is common and affects one in 100 people. Coeliac disease is caused by a reaction of the immune system to gluten – a protein found in wheat, barley and rye.

When someone with coeliac disease eats gluten, their immune system reacts by damaging the lining of the small intestine. Once diagnosed, the only treatment for coeliac disease is a gluten free diet. Gluten is found in wheat, barley and rye.*

We are proud to present to all those that suffer from Coeliac Disease a full and tasty menu that includes not only scrumptious fish and chips but also a selection of our favourite dishes such as Fish Cakes, Sausage battered or plain and chicken bites. We are also excited to share that we will be offering battered halloumi as a brand new dish and for those that like something sweet an old nostaligic favourtie – pineapple fritters!

There is also a kids menu too so the whole family can still enjoy the Nation’s favourite take away – Gluten Free style – with us!

We hope to see you soon, thank you as always for your continued support – without our amazing customers we would not be here.

Thank you from the Harbourside Team.
